Fix-It Repair Workshop
Fix-It Repair Lab
Bring in broken, unworn, or well-loved jewelry and explore what is possible through repair, restoration, or creative repurposing. In this lab-style session, students work with their own pieces which shapes each workshop uniquely.
Some examples of what’s possible are:
Missing stones? Remove stones from another piece or inlay wood or shell instead.
Replace missing clasps or jump rings
Rivet watch parts or broken fragments together, making something new.
Re-round misshapen rings
Solder on bails or bracelet links
When a project reaches a step that requires specialized execution, Lyndsey can step in to complete that portion while explaining the process.
Why is this a unique offering?
Often, jewelry retailers don’t want to repair everything- they want to repair pieces they can price reasonably and know what the materials are.
With years of jewelry repair experience, Lyndsey will step in when the repair needs a hand- yep, this is somewhat of a custom experience class.
Materials:
Students bring their own jewelry for repair. Repair materials and consumables are included, such as:
Various sized brass, steel, and sterling silver jump rings.
10mm brass or sterling silver lobster clasps
Wood, shell, bone, vintage parts, and a plethora of other broken jewelry to repurpose from.
2 part epoxy (Resin that glues most things together)
Patina options like liver of sulphur and gun blue to blacken parts of jewelry for contrasting design features.
Skill Level:
Beginner to intermediate. No prior metalsmithing experience required. However, this class is more fun with some jewelry-making or mechanically similar experience.
Schedule:
This workshop is 6 hours total, divided into 2 sessions. *This class includes two complimentary 2 hour DROP-IN sessions.
What You’ll Leave With:
Repaired or refreshed jewelry pieces and a practical understanding of common jewelry repairs to become an overall more conscious wearer, maker, and buyer.
*** Please note: This workshop is intended for lower stakes jewelry repairs and projects. High-value heirlooms or complex stone-setting work are better suited for dedicated jewelry retail/repair shops. Please email the studio with questions at info@springsjewelrystudio.com.
