Torch + Home Studio Setup

Thinking about setting up a jewelry bench at home? This class provides an overview of the tools, workspace considerations, and equipment commonly used in small jewelry studios.

Students will learn how jewelers think about torch selection, workspace layout, and essential tools when building a functional bench setup. The goal of this session is to help students make informed decisions before purchasing equipment or arranging a home workspace.

Techniques Covered:

  • Overview of common jewelry torch types and their uses

  • Basic workspace layout for bench work

  • Heat-safe surfaces and work zones

  • Tool options and prioritizing purchases

  • Common purchasing mistakes and unnecessary equipment

  • Local resources that can fill in the gaps

Materials:
Reference materials and demonstration equipment will be provided.

Skill Level:
Beginner. No prior metalsmithing experience required.

Schedule:
This workshop is 2 hours total.
